Scouts and accompanying adults had a blast on their spring backpacking trip to Sam A. Baker State Park, a one night trek beginning on Saturday, May 11 and ending the next day. The majority of the 11-or-so mile hike was completed on Saturday, with the backpackers encountering inclines, downgrades, beautiful spring scenery and a picturesque stream complete with waterfalls – although it was difficult to cross! Even though the water in the stream was running fast, everyone worked together to make it across and made it safely to the other side (Mr. Stanton had to dry out his shoes at the campsite after losing his balance on a slippery rock, but he was okay!) On Sunday, the backpackers hiked up a hill and along a ridge to complete their round loop on the trail. Mr. Stanton and the backpackers are looking forward to their upcoming trip to the Grand Tetons in August!
