Every presidents day weekend, it is a troop tradition to take a ski trip to Chestnut Mountain ski resort in Galena Illinois. Every year this trip is an absolute blast, and considered one of the highlights of the year. Each day, the troop hit the slopes. One amazing thing was how many people improved drastically throughout the experience. Many of the scouts went from skiing green, or easier, slopes to black diamonds, or very hard slopes, in just two days. The nights were very fun as well. The first night, the older scouts invited the entire troop to their room to watch Encanto. The party extended into the dinner hour, with Mrs. Karslake making some of the best sloppy joes I’ve ever eaten. The second was packed with a Super Smash Brothers Ultimate tournament in the younger scouts rooms, followed by an amazing pool party. The Galena ski trip is an amazing experience that every scout should go on at least once in their time with Troop 344, as it is a great way to get better at skiing, gain confidence in your own skills, and just have fun.
