The troop spent a week at summer camp at Camp Gamble in June 2024, returning to our favorite Francis Campsite. We had 24 scouts all week and two others for parts of the week. This year, we did not have to share the campsite with another troop. Four patrols cooked their own meals all week, and the Crusading Phoenixes Patrol won the troop’s internal meals and campsite inspection contest for the week. Younger scouts spent a lot of time working on merit badges, and older scouts participated in the Apex Program. Evening activities included the opening campfire, parents night with favorite dinners from the city, the Order of the Arrow ceremony, and closing campfire. The troop also did an evening canoe float and had a trip to the Huck’s Cove waterpark at the other end of Nims Lake. Four scouts were elected to the Order of the Arrow–Rohit, Bryan, Patrick, and Josh. Two scouts from our troop (Brandon and Nathan) are working on the Camp Gamble staff this summer. In addition to the 24 scouts who spent a week at Camp Gamble, the troop has nine other scouts who will go/have gone to NYLT, Sea Base, or camp staff, so that 33 scouts from 344 spent at least a week in some scout camp in 2024.
