(Story by Darren)
In the morning of Nov. 2, we all met at the Ladue Middle School (LMS) to pass out troop gear to the scouts. After that, we got into cars and drove to Hawn State Park, where we started the Whispering Pines Trail going clockwise. We reserved campsites 5 and 6, and we made our way to number 5. We first hiked until 12:00, and ate our cold lunches on the side of the trail. Then, we continued until we had reached our campsite, after 6.5 miles of hiking. We started setting up the bear bags and rainfly. Next we set up our tents and personal gear. Once we had finished everything, we made a fire and relaxed by it, eating our backpacking meals until lights-out. The next morning, we got up and packed everything back up. We ate breakfast and set off on the trail again. We went about 3 miles along the trail, using the shortcut, and made it back to the trail head. Finally, we drove back to the LMS, and went home.
