(Story by Henry W.)
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Troop 344 gathered at the Beth Hamedrosh Hagadol Cemetery for its annual Memorial Day weekend service project honoring local veterans. The morning began with a flag-raising ceremony before Scouts split into small groups to replace worn American flags with new flags at veterans’ gravesites throughout the cemetery. Troop 344 performs the project each year on the Sunday before Memorial Day as a way to show respect and remembrance for those who served in the armed forces. The old flags collected during the event were properly retired by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
